Ripen · keep · enjoy
- As it leaves us
- Picked fully dark and soft-ripe the day before. Glossy, plump and fully dark, with no red left; they stain everything, so a purple fingertip is a good sign. Any with fuzz or leaking juice should go.
- At home
- In the fridge, unwashed, in a single layer; rinse gently just before eating. Freeze any you cannot eat in two or three days.

A short late-spring crop from Florida trees; mulberries do not travel, so the window is brief.
